Police Arrest Suspected Vandal with Stolen Cables

On August 25, 2026, the Kebbi State Police Command arrested a suspected vandal named Mustapha Abubakar in Bunza Local Government Area for the theft of electricity service cables. This operation took place in the Kara area of Bunza town, prompted by ongoing concerns regarding the theft and vandalism of electricity infrastructure.

During the operation, police recovered a total of 10 bundles and seven sacks of stolen electricity cables. The vandalism has significantly impacted local communities, plunging them into darkness and disrupting electricity supply.

Following his arrest, Mustapha Abubakar was arraigned before a court. The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M.

Hadejia, stated that the police command is committed to combating the theft and destruction of critical national infrastructure and will ensure that those responsible face legal consequences. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, assuring confidentiality for any information provided.
