SWDC Launches TransCom Project for Infrastructure Growth

The South West Development Commission (SWDC) has commenced work on the TransCom project, aimed at transforming agricultural infrastructure and boosting food security in South West Nigeria. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Foundation for Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development (FTID), will develop structures to support farming communities and enhance essential infrastructure for small-scale agro-processing enterprises.

The project is expected to improve the quality of life in rural and semi-urban areas across the region, addressing existing disparities between urban centers and rural communities. The TransCom project will facilitate access to markets, provide enterprise support, and promote skill development, particularly for youth.

Dr. Charl Diji Akinola, the project management director and chief executive officer of SWDC, highlighted that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to drive industrial development, human capital growth, and job creation.

The pilot program is expected to begin soon, with plans to scale across six states in the region.
