SWDC Launches Committee for TransComs Rural Program

The South West Development Commission (SWDC) has established a committee to facilitate the delivery of the TransComs program, which is designed to transform rural areas in the region. The committee was inaugurated by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of SWDC, Dr.

Charl Diji Akinola, during a co-creation roundtable at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan. The committee aims to ensure rapid project execution and stakeholder engagement, measuring the impact on the ground.

It will be co-led by Dr. Akinola and Prof.

Oyebanji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, the Program Director of the Foundation for Technology Innovation and Sustainable Development (FTID). The committee's structure is based on four pillars: design, credible de-risking, execution, and leading the development of financial institutions, including partnerships with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Bank of Industry (BOI).

The initiative also seeks to coordinate agricultural budgets across the southwestern states of Nigeria.
