Nigeria Taekwondo Federation Unveils 2026 Calendar with Grassroots Focus

The Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) has revealed its 2026 calendar with a strong emphasis on grassroots development and talent discovery. The calendar was presented and approved during a board meeting held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The federation aims to encourage zonal tournaments to scout young athletes and hold national camps to discover talent. The board also agreed to scout young athletes with promising physical attributes to become future taekwondo stars.

Additionally, preparations for the Africa Championship scheduled for April in Morocco were discussed and approved. The board addressed challenges with player registration and licensing due to inadequate data and approved the formation of a committee to develop guidelines for club registration and affiliation.

A moment of silence was observed to honor the late Vice President Reverend Abba.
