Tambuwal Urges Federal Security Boost for Sokoto Communities

Aminu Tambuwal, the former Governor of Sokoto State and current Senator representing Sokoto South, has requested stronger federal intervention and additional security resources to combat the deteriorating security situation in Sokoto State. This request was made during a meeting with the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd.), on Friday, where Tambuwal was accompanied by Abdussamad Dasuki, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.

The delegation expressed particular concern over insecurity in Kebbe Local Government Area and Kaya community in Tambuwal Local Government Area. Tambuwal emphasized the need for increased security presence and operational resources to protect residents from persistent attacks.

The Defence Minister assured the delegation of the Federal Government's commitment to addressing these challenges and pledged additional resources for ongoing security operations. The meeting comes amid heightened security concerns in southern Sokoto, where communities have faced attacks and displacement, particularly from suspected Lakurawa militants.
