Enugu to Host South-East Tax Ombud Headquarters

Enugu State has been designated to host the headquarters of the South-East Tax Ombud, as disclosed by Chief Executive Officer John Nwabuez during his visit to Governor Peter Mbah at the Government House in Enugu. This decision, announced in a statement by Chukwudi Achif, the Chief Press Secretary of the Tax Ombud, recognizes Enugu's status as one of Nigeria's foremost industrial and commercial hubs.

Nwabuez emphasized the strategic position of the state for operating the office, given its expanding economic activities and significant contributions to revenue generation. The Tax Ombud aims to address tax-related disputes, including issues of multiple taxation, and to create a transparent and impartial mechanism for resolving taxpayer disputes.

Nwabuez encouraged voluntary compliance among taxpayers to reduce friction with tax authorities. Governor Mbah expressed readiness to provide the necessary facilities for the zonal headquarters, which aligns with the administration's goal to grow Enugu's economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion within eight years through private sector-led investment.
