TCN Schedules Maintenance, Power Cuts Affect Kano and Others

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled maintenance work that will lead to temporary power outages in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Yobe states, as well as Gazaoua in the Niger Republic. This announcement was made by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah in a statement issued on Friday.

The maintenance will specifically affect the Kumbotso 330 kilovolt transmission substation, which is undergoing upgrades to improve power reliability and transmission capacity. The work includes replacing existing 350mm conductors with higher capacity 800mm conductors as part of efforts to reinforce the transmission network.

Consequently, the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) will be unable to supply power to their customers in the affected areas during the maintenance period. TCN assured customers that the temporary disruptions are necessary to complete critical infrastructure upgrades designed to enhance the stability and reliability of electricity supply in the region.
