Team Nigeria Heads to Glasgow for 2026 Commonwealth Games

Team Nigeria has left Aberdeen and is heading to Glasgow for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The first batch of Nigerian athletes and officials departed on Tuesday, July 21, while a second batch will move to the Games Village on Friday, July 24, to join teammates already present.

This movement follows a week of intensive training and acclimatization in Aberdeen, where the Nigerian team fine-tuned their preparations for the Commonwealth Games, which is a significant event on the sports calendar. The Nigerian Sports Commission (NSC) continues to provide athletes with necessary technical, medical, and welfare support to ensure they arrive in Glasgow in peak condition and fully prepared to compete.

Team Nigeria will represent a strong contingent of athletes across several sports, with hopes of winning medals based on recent impressive performances in continental and international championships. The Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, featuring 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth Games associations competing for 215 gold medals across 11 sports.
