Police Secondary School in Minna Sacks 13 Teachers

On Monday, Police Secondary School in Minna, Niger State, dismissed 13 temporary teachers who had been employed for 12 years. The teachers claimed they were relieved of their duties without prior notice, which contradicts part 38 of their employment agreement that assures job security.

Following the dismissal, the school management proceeded to recruit youth corps members, retaining only 17 colleagues on a temporary basis with a two-month salary payment. The affected teachers, all university graduates holding the National Certificate in Education (NCE), expressed their plight to journalists.

Alhaji Sulaiman Moham, the chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), confirmed the report and criticized the school management's decision, emphasizing the dedication of the teachers. The PTA is advocating for the payment of salaries and has discovered that the current salary structure is unsustainable, with graduates earning N40,000 monthly while NCE holders receive N30,000 monthly.
