Ted Turner, CNN Founder, Dies at 87 in Florida

Ted Turner, a renowned media mogul and philanthropist, died at the age of 87 on Wednesday at his home near Tallahassee, Florida. He was the founder of CNN, which he launched in 1980 as the world's first 24-hour cable news channel, fundamentally reshaping the television landscape and earning the nickname "Mouth of the South." Throughout his career, Turner also founded several major cable channels, including Turner Network Television (TNT), Cartoon Network, and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

According to a family spokesman, Turner had been battling Lewy body dementia, a progressive neurological disorder with symptoms resembling Parkinson's disease, which was disclosed in September 2018.
