Tenant Accuses Lawyer of Failing Legal Service in Lagos

Medinat Oyeleke, a tenant in Lagos, accused lawyer Jide Zaid of failing to provide agreed-upon legal services after collecting N345,000 on October 6, 2025, to address issues including harassment, burglary, and property damage at her residence. Oyeleke claimed Zaid prepared documents that were not sealed and disregarded.

Zaid refuted the allegations, asserting he completed the legal tasks and had documentation to prove it. Oyeleke reported incidents of burglary, property damage, and harassment from other tenants, including a defamation claim against caretaker Akeem Aluko.

Dissatisfied with Zaid's handling of her case, she suspected he compromised his position after allegedly meeting with those she complained about. After their last conversation on December 2, 2025, where Zaid denied any wrongdoing, Oyeleke filed a formal complaint with the Nigerian Bar Association on February 12, 2026, seeking a refund of her fees.

She also reported difficulties in obtaining police assistance regarding her complaints.
