Security Surrounds Osun Speaker's Residence on Election Day

On the day of the governorship election in Osun State, armed security personnel reportedly surrounded the residence of Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly.

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), associated with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, raised concerns in a statement about the presence of more than 10 black Hilux vehicles at the Speaker's residence in Osogbo. The council reported that the residence was sealed off, restricting movement for those inside.

They could not confirm whether the security personnel were there for protection or conducting an official operation. Attempts to contact the Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for clarification were unsuccessful, as their official lines went unanswered.

The council expressed that the heavy security presence could heighten anxiety among residents on an election day, emphasizing the need for a peaceful atmosphere for voters. They urged security agencies to allow residents to exercise their voting rights freely and called for calm among the populace.
