Police Confront Osun Lawmaker Over Voter Gathering

On the morning of the Osun State governorship election, a viral video showed security operatives confronting Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Irewole/Isokan Constituency, at a private residence in Ikire. The confrontation involved approximately 146 individuals who were present to vote.

Ibrahim identified the residence as belonging to his late father, Raji Ibrahim, and claimed the crowd included both local voters and outsiders. When questioned by police about whether he was mobilizing voters for a specific candidate, Ibrahim stated, “Voting is their choice.

I’m not their agent,” while confirming his membership in the Accord Party. The Nigeria Police Force had heightened security measures for the election, with Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu deploying Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ishyaku Mohammed to oversee operations and warning against electoral malpractice and voter intimidation.
