Osun Speaker Calls for International Scrutiny Amid Attacks

Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, has urged the international community to intervene following alleged military attacks and intimidation in Odo Otin Local Government Area over the past 48 hours, just two days before the governorship election. In his address to diplomatic missions and human rights organizations, Egbedun claimed that armed military personnel, led by Sikiru Adeboye, targeted leaders of the Accord political platform.

He reported an invasion of Alhaja Popoola Kuburat Ijadunola's residence, where two of her children were taken. Additionally, he mentioned attacks on political figures including Ayanyemi Joshua Olawale, Fasola Femi, and Ajimoti Rasheed Omotayo, during which gunfire occurred.

Egbedun also alleged that three armed men, linked to Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress candidate, were released after being arrested with firearms. He called for investigations by the Federal Government, DSS, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Army, emphasizing the need for independent monitoring of the situation to uphold democracy and human rights.
