Osun Speaker Egbedun Allegedly Attacks APC Candidate

On August 12, 2026, Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, allegedly attacked Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun, Boripe, and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency. Eniade reportedly sustained injuries, with images circulating on social media showing him covered in blood.

The clash also resulted in injuries to several others and damage to vehicles. This incident occurred just three days before the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Eyewitness accounts on social media claimed that dozens were injured and several cars were destroyed. Egbedun has publicly supported Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election and had previously called for the arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Eniade over alleged inciting remarks.

As of the time of reporting, the Osun State Police Command had not confirmed the attack, and there was no official statement from Egbedun addressing the allegations.
