Police Clarify Asaba Airport Security Operation Details

The Airport Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has refuted claims of a terrorist attack at Asaba International Airport. In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Airport Police Command, ASP Mohammed Adeola, it was confirmed that the security activities observed were part of a planned simulation exercise.

This exercise, conducted by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) on September 10, 2026, aimed to evaluate and improve the preparedness and response capabilities of security and emergency-response agencies. The simulation involved deploying security personnel and stakeholders to recreate a security incident within the airport environment, focusing on inter-agency coordination and response to potential emergencies.

The Airport Command emphasized that the exercise was controlled and authorized, urging the public to disregard misleading reports circulating on social media. They reassured that the security situation at the airport remains stable, with all relevant agencies vigilant in ensuring the safety of passengers and airport personnel.
