NBA Condemns Terrorist Attacks on Plateau Communities

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Plateau State has raised alarms regarding terrorist attacks on communities that are adhering to government-imposed curfews. This statement was made during a joint press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Jos, attended by the chairmen of the four NBA branches: Morgan Dung (Jos), Selven Zingman (Pankshin), Lucy Pam-Fom Bot (Bukuru), and Sylvia Kumtong (Shendam).

The NBA criticized the government's inability to protect lives and property, citing ongoing violence in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and Bokkos Local Government Areas. They emphasized that the right to life is a fundamental constitutional guarantee, which the government is failing to uphold.

The NBA condemned the blatant disregard for curfews by terrorists, who have attacked law-abiding citizens, including community vigilantes in Mangu. They warned that this situation could lead to anarchy and a breakdown of law and order, eroding public confidence and creating a sense of impunity among perpetrators.
