Terrorists Extort Food Items from Niger Communities

Terrorists have reportedly demanded food items and materials from four communities in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. According to sources, the communities were compelled to raise N12 million to purchase items requested by the terrorists.
The affected villages include Dakara, Gbenji Gidazana, Kpeya Biyan, and Giragbasso Imil, which collectively provided significant amounts: Dakara and Gbenji Gidazana villages each contributed N3,800,000, while Kpeya Biyan and Giragbasso Imil villages contributed N2,300,000 each. The items requested by the terrorists included bags of sugar, palm oil, Maggi seasoning, salt, spaghetti, pasta, rice, and powdered milk.
The head of one affected village, whose name was withheld, raised an alarm to inform security operatives about the situation. Following this alert, soldiers reportedly stormed the villages, leading to the neutralization of some terrorists.
Mr. Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, the state commissioner of police, confirmed the story but did not respond to requests for further details.
