Owie Criticizes Tinubu's Kings College Concession Decision

Sir Rowland Owie, the former Chief Whip of the Senate, condemned President Bola Tinubu's decision to concede Kings College Lagos to the school's old boys’ association. Owie expressed that this concession has incited a national strike by staff of Unity schools across Nigeria.

He argued that such actions are perceived as a covert attempt to privatize these educational institutions, which he believes are crucial symbols of national unity. Owie stated, “This is trying to destroy Unity Schools; you want to privatise them?" He criticized Tinubu, highlighting the irony of a president from the old western region, historically associated with the introduction of free education, now endorsing privatization.

Owie described the situation as “the highest level of insanity” and called for an immediate reversal of the policy to preserve the unity of the country.
