Sowore Granted 200 Million Naira Bail by Abuja Court

Omoyele Sowore, a prominent human rights activist, has been granted bail of 200 million naira by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The court's ruling, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, includes stringent conditions requiring Sowore to provide two sureties, including a traditional ruler and a property owner from Abuja.

Additionally, he must deposit his international passport with the court, which will remain in custody until June 22, 2026. Sowore, who has been vocal against President Bola Tinubu, warned that authorities have consistently targeted his passport.

After the court session, he expressed his frustrations, indicating that the authorities did not heed his warnings regarding his passport. His bail conditions reflect the ongoing tensions surrounding his activism and legal battles in Nigeria.
