Baba Alado, influential Mushin leader, passes away at 83

Chief Taoreed Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado, died at the age of 83 in the early hours of Saturday and was buried according to Islamic rites later that day. He was a prominent figure in Mushin’s political, social, traditional, and commercial circles.

Faronbi served as the fifth head, or Olori Ebi, of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin, having been installed in November 2015. He was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was recognized for his influence in grassroots politics and the transport sector, particularly as a heavyweight leader within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

His loyalists were known as “Alado boys.” Faronbi was also linked to a violent incident in 2020 in the White Sand community, which resulted in fatalities and injuries. His death was mourned by notable figures, including NURTW President Musiliu Akinsanya.
