Three Killed in San Diego Mosque Shooting Incident

On a recent Monday, three people were killed in a shooting at the Islam Center in San Diego, California. The suspects, identified as two teenage gunmen aged 17 and 18, were later discovered dead in a car from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl confirmed that the victims were found outside the sprawling Islamic center, which is the largest mosque in San Diego County. The police received reports of an active shooter within four minutes of the call and deployed an active shooter response team.

Wahl noted that a security guard at the center was among the victims, whose actions likely prevented a more deadly attack. The incident is being treated as a hate crime, with Chief Wahl stating that there was "definite hate rhetoric" involved.

California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed horror at the attack, emphasizing that worshippers should not fear for their safety and that acts of terror and intimidation against communities of faith will not be tolerated.
