Fayose Declines APC Role, Accepts Rural Electrification Chair

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State and a member of the People's Democratic Party, expressed his disinterest in serving under Bola Tinubu's administration, stating he would rather stay at home than work for the All Progressives Congress (APC). This remark was made during an appearance on a political program on Channels Television on October 15, 2025.

Fayose revealed that he declined an offer for a political appointment from Tinubu, emphasizing that he has no desire to return to public office after serving two terms as governor. He mentioned enjoying a cordial relationship with Tinubu but clarified that this does not translate into political allegiance to the APC.

Despite his statements, on Monday, President Bola Tinubu appointed Fayose as the chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, as announced by the President's special adviser on strategic communications, Bayo Onanuga. This appointment is part of a broader announcement of 26 new appointments across 10 federal government agencies and commissions.
