Tijaniyya Leader Sheikh Tidjani Visits Nigeria, Meets Tinubu

Sheikh Sidi Ali Belarabi Tidjani, the General Caliph of the Tijaniyya Order and leader of the Tijaniyya Supreme Council, arrived in Nigeria on August 6, 2026, for an official visit aimed at enhancing spiritual and cultural connections between the order's headquarters in Algeria and its followers in Nigeria and West Africa. On August 7, he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, where he underscored the historical friendship between Algeria and Nigeria and expressed hopes for further strengthening these relations.

Sheikh Tidjani prayed for peace and stability in Nigeria and the well-being of President Tinubu. His visit, expected to last several days, includes engagements in Abuja, Kano, and Bauchi, where he will visit Tijaniyya Zawiyas and interact with scholars.

He will also participate in celebrations for the birth of Sheikh Sidi Ahmed Tidjani, the order's founder, in Kano. The Tijaniyya Order is a significant Sufi brotherhood with a strong presence in West Africa.
