Former Bayelsa Governor Timipre Sylva Wanted for Alleged Financial Crimes

Timipre Sylva, a former Bayelsa State governor, is facing allegations of financial crimes, including fraud amounting to over 14 million naira. The Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are actively pursuing him.

Sylva, who has not returned to Nigeria, is accused of being involved in a conspiracy to divert funds from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board to Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited. The EFCC has declared him wanted and is tracking him internationally.

Sylva's residence was raided in connection with an alleged coup attempt against Bola Tinubu's administration. The military initially denied links to a coup plot but later acknowledged the involvement of some officers.

Sylva's spokesperson has dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
