Tinubu Administration Strengthens Ties with Catholic Bishops

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated that the Tinubu administration is dedicated to forming stronger partnerships with faith communities, traditional institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector to tackle Nigeria's pressing challenges. Akume emphasized the importance of constructive engagement in fostering peace, social cohesion, and national development.

He confirmed that the administration would continue consultations with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria and other relevant stakeholders on issues affecting the country. Akume reassured that the government respects the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission and is not pursuing a one-party state.

He acknowledged the Catholic Church's significant contributions to Nigeria's development in areas such as education and healthcare. The discussions between President Tinubu and the Bishops were described as candid and constructive, focusing on the Church's role in addressing citizens' welfare and the nation's future.
