Tinubu Appoints Dr. Adigwe to Lead NHTDAO

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Nigerian Health Technology Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO) and appointed Dr. Obi Adigwe as its pioneer national coordinator.

The NHTDAO will be coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and will serve as a meta-level national platform to coordinate Nigeria's digital health agenda. According to Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president, the office will reinforce but not replace existing statutory functions of relevant departments and agencies.

It aims to harmonize and empower public and private institutions across the health system, setting standards to connect operational aspects of the national digital health architecture. The National Council on Health will oversee the office, with a steering committee that includes Professor Muhammad Ali Pate as co-chair, alongside other notable figures from various health sectors.

The NHTDAO is expected to accelerate Nigeria's transition to a secure, interoperable, data-driven health system, ultimately improving health outcomes for citizens.
