Tinubu Approves 1,000 Forest Guards for Katsina State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Katsina State as part of a major initiative to strengthen security operations aimed at tackling persistent banditry and kidnapping in the region. Governor Dikko Umar Radda announced this approval during a high-level meeting with Islamic clerics and other stakeholders at the Government House in Katsina.

Radda described the approval as a significant boost to ongoing efforts to reclaim forest areas in rural communities that have become hideouts for armed bandits. The newly recruited forest guards will complement the operations of conventional security agencies and local vigilante groups.

They will receive adequate training and equipment to effectively monitor remote forest communities. Radda emphasized the importance of community engagement in combating banditry and kidnapping, stating that security agencies alone cannot end the menace without public cooperation.
