Tinubu Urges INEC for Credible Osun Governorship Election

President Bola Tinubu has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that the governorship election in Osun State, scheduled for August 15, is peaceful, transparent, and credible. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu emphasized the importance of this election, which features 15 candidates, including incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He urged INEC to maintain the integrity of the electoral process and conduct the election orderly, viewing it as a critical opportunity to demonstrate readiness for the 2027 general elections. Tinubu directed the Inspector-General of Police and heads of security agencies to ensure adequate protection for voters and electoral officials, warning against disruptions.

He encouraged Osun residents to vote without fear and highlighted that the election's success should reflect the electorate's choice.
