Tinubu Orders Rescue Operation After Niger State Abduction

President Bola Tinubu has directed an immediate rescue operation in response to a mass abduction incident in Niger State. This directive was communicated by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, in a State House release on Tuesday.

Tinubu condemned the attackers, labeling them as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity,” and expressed his condolences to the families of those killed during the assault. He emphasized the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abductees and stated that the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and relevant security agencies would conduct a coordinated rescue operation.

The abduction reportedly occurred during Jumat prayers at Kpenya Mosque in Gidan-Zana, where worshippers, including children and the elderly, were taken. The village Head of Ka’ada and the 90-year-old father of the District Head of Dekar were also among those abducted.

Tinubu vowed that Nigeria would not succumb to terrorism and pledged support for recovery and security reinforcement.
