Tinubu Allegedly Funded Osinbajo's 2015 Campaign

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, claimed in an interview with Symfoni TV that President Bola Tinubu personally funded the vice-presidential campaign of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the 2015 general election. Lawal stated that Tinubu spent more than N2 billion to hire political consultants associated with former U.S.

President Barack Obama to enhance the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign strategy. He noted that Tinubu mobilized substantial funds for the campaign and separately financed Osinbajo’s campaign activities, which operated independently from the main campaign of then-presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari.

Lawal asserted that Tinubu personally covered major campaign expenses rather than relying on the campaign's central funds, highlighting his significant financial role in the APC's success.
