Tinubu Celebrates Hausa People on World Hausa Day 2026

President Bola Tinubu described the Hausa people as important pillars of Nigeria’s growth in a message for the 2026 World Hausa Day. He commended their resilience and the increasing influence of the Hausa language, which he noted has become a significant tool for communication, unity, and commerce globally.

The celebration took place at the historic Daura Palace in Katsina State, attended by traditional rulers, scholars, and cultural stakeholders. The event followed a similar celebration in 2025 and was organized under the theme “Our Culture, Our Future,” focusing on the preservation of Hausa language and culture for future generations.

The World Hausa Day movement, initiated on August 26, 2015, by Nigerian journalist Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari, aims to encourage the use of the Hausa language online and address challenges to its growth. Participants are encouraged to communicate in Hausa on social media and showcase Hausa traditions through various digital platforms.
