Tinubu Launches Africa's First Renewable Energy College

On [date not specified], President Bola Tinubu inaugurated Africa’s first renewable energy college, the Barefoot Renewable Energy College (BARECKS), and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant in Kogi State. The inauguration was conducted by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of the President at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.

Tinubu described the college as a world-class institution completed to international standards, addressing Nigeria's challenges in converting its abundant renewable resources into energy and jobs. He emphasized that the college will produce skilled technicians and professionals in renewable energy technologies, filling the gap in Africa's energy transition.

Graduates will receive internationally recognized certificates, enabling them to compete globally. Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the project's timely completion, noting that it was built as a vocational and technical institution to enhance technical manpower in the renewable energy sector.
