Onochie Claims Tinubu Not Interested in 2027 Re-election

Lauretta Onochie, who served as a media aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu has not expressed any interest in contesting for a second term in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Onochie made this claim in a post addressing the need for Nigerians to verify assertions suggesting that President Tinubu has already declared plans to seek re-election.

She emphasized that there has been no public statement from Tinubu indicating an intent to run again. Furthermore, Onochie alleged that certain individuals are attempting to pressure political figures, including opposition leaders and governors, to withdraw from active political participation ahead of the 2027 elections.

She suggested that these individuals are motivated by a fear of losing the next election.
