Tinubu Launches Power Force to Train 5,000 Youths

President Bola Tinubu launched the Power Force initiative aimed at training 5,000 young Nigerians to support the accelerated deployment of smart electricity meters across the country. This initiative is designed to create employment opportunities and strengthen ongoing power sector reforms.

The Presidential Meter Initiative (PMI), led by the federal government, will address critical skill gaps in meter installation and expand opportunities for youth participation in national development. The first phase of the program is set to commence in Abuja in July 2026, with subsequent rollouts across six geopolitical zones.

Participants will undergo intensive technical training delivered by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and will be certified to comply with standards overseen by the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA). Successful trainees will connect with distribution companies for job opportunities.

The initiative reflects the administration's commitment to job creation and youth empowerment, providing practical skills and recognized certification pathways for employment and entrepreneurship within the power value chain.
