FG Launches Tinubu Light Initiative for MSMEs and Jobs

The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the Tinubu Light Initiative (TLI), a renewable energy program designed to provide affordable clean power to one million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and create 50,000 direct jobs. This initiative was unveiled in Abuja during the National Showcase of the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026.

Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, represented Minister Dr.

Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh at the event. The TLI aims to reduce production costs for MSMEs, expand financial inclusion, and promote inclusive economic growth.

Muhammad emphasized the importance of transforming indigenous ideas into commercial enterprises and highlighted the government's commitment to innovation, technology, and industrialization as central to Nigeria's economic agenda. The initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on building a Nigeria where innovation leads to prosperity and sustainable national development.
