Tinubu Inaugurates New ECOWAS Headquarters in Abuja

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the new headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Abuja. He reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to regional integration, peace, and industrialization, describing the new complex as a symbol of resilience and confidence in the future of ECOWAS.

Tinubu called for a shift in the region's market focus towards becoming a product base, urging member states to address serious challenges such as terrorism, violent extremism, economic vulnerability, food insecurity, climate change, and public health concerns. He noted that the region must move beyond mere aspirations to practical economic transformation.

Tinubu commended ECOWAS Chairman Julius Bio for his leadership and expressed gratitude to the government of China for financing the new headquarters. He emphasized the need for renewed dialogue and solidarity among member states to ensure collective security and sustainable development.
