Tinubu Welcomes Nigeria to World Energy Council Membership

On Friday, President Bola Tinubu welcomed Nigeria's formal admission as the newest National Member Committee of the World Energy Council (WEC). He described this event as a proud moment for Nigeria and a strong endorsement of the country's energy reforms and leadership role in Africa.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu noted that Nigeria's membership positions the country to influence global discussions on energy security, equity, and sustainability. He congratulated the inaugural leadership of WEC Nigeria, including Chairman Abdulrazaq Isa and CEO Bala Wunti, along with other board members from various sectors.

Tinubu praised Isa as a distinguished industrialist and Wunti as a leading energy strategist. He affirmed the Federal Government's support for WEC Nigeria, emphasizing its role in fostering policy dialogue and innovation in the energy sector.

The World Energy Council, established in 1923 and based in London, is a significant global energy policy body.
