Tinubu's Remarks Criticized Ahead of Osun Election

Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has attributed the controversial remarks made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi to President Bola Tinubu's earlier statement that "all is fair in politics." Abdullahi stated that Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, interpreted Tinubu's comments as an endorsement for any actions taken to secure electoral victory. Fadahunsi was recently summoned by the Osun State Police Command for questioning regarding statements made at an APC campaign rally in Ilesa, which were perceived as inciting violence against members of the rival Accord Party.

Abdullahi emphasized that Tinubu's statement could be construed as a license for unacceptable behavior in the political arena. Tinubu made his remarks on July 28 while meeting with the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, warning political opponents that he would not concede ground without a fight as the 2027 general elections approach.
