ADC Demands Tinubu Clarify 'All is Fair in Politics' Comment

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explain his July 29 remark that "all is fair in politics," emphasizing that his silence regarding recent political threats could convey a harmful message. In a statement on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC expressed concern over comments made by Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, the chairman of Kuje Area Council, who allegedly warned residents against voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ADC stated that citizens' rights to reside in their country should not be contingent upon their political affiliations. They demanded that Tinubu clarify his statement, asserting that silence could be interpreted as endorsement of intimidation.

Additionally, the ADC called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Shekwolo by the Inspector-General of Police and the Department of State Services, citing violations of constitutional rights. The ADC referenced a previous incident involving APC Senator Francis Fadahunsi, highlighting a lack of consequences for political threats.
