Veteran Journalist Dotun Oladipo Dies at 56

Dotun Oladipo, a veteran journalist and publisher of The Eagle Online, reportedly died at the age of 56 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after suddenly falling ill at his office. Earlier that day, he had appeared to be in good health, having gone to the gym with his wife before proceeding to work.

He was active on social media, with his last post made around 2:50 PM. Later, he became unwell and attempted to drive himself to a hospital for medical attention.

Unfortunately, he suffered what was suspected to be a heart attack during the emergency and was pronounced dead. Oladipo had a distinguished career spanning several decades, serving as the former Politics Editor of PUNCH newspapers and establishing a reputation for thorough journalism focused on politics, business, and the economy.

His transition into digital publishing marked a significant shift in Nigeria’s media landscape, where he contributed to the growth of online journalism. He is survived by his wife, children, and other family members.
