Toyota Launches New Three-Row Highlander BEV Model

On February 10, 2023, in Ojai, California, Toyota Motor Corporation unveiled its new three-row battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, the Highlander. This launch is part of Toyota's multi-pathway approach to achieving a carbon-neutral society and expanding its BEV lineup in North America.

Sales of the Highlander are anticipated to commence in late 2026. The Highlander, which has a strong history since its first generation launched in the United States in 2001, has cumulatively sold over 3.6 million units.

The new model will be produced at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) and will be the fourth addition to Toyota's BEV lineup, following the BZ 1, Toyota C-HR, and BZ4X. The Highlander will feature a variety of battery options, including 76-96 kWh and 95-82 kWh capacities, designed for urban driving and long-distance travel, with a target cruising range of 320 miles and rapid charging capabilities.
