Scholes Urges Man United to Sign Romero from Spurs

Paul Scholes, a Manchester United legend, has urged the club to pursue Cristian Romero, the Argentina and Tottenham Hotspur centre-back, during the summer transfer window. Romero, who turned 28 in April, is reportedly interested in leaving Tottenham, where he is under contract until June 2029.

Scholes made these comments on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, suggesting that Manchester United needs to strengthen their defense by acquiring two centre-backs. He stated that despite Romero's fiery temperament and disciplinary challenges, he has the potential to excel under the management of Michael Carrick.

Scholes claimed that Romero, a 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, is superior to current United players Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt. He mentioned that the transfer fee for Romero could be around £30 to £40 million, emphasizing the need for a quality centre-back as the current squad does not meet the required standards.

Since joining Spurs in 2021, Romero has made 156 appearances, scoring 13 goals and accumulating 44 yellow cards along with six red cards.
