Ondo Labour Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to FUTATH CMD

The Organised Labour in Ondo State has given a seven-day ultimatum to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal University of Technology, Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH), threatening indefinite industrial action if alleged violations of the hospital's transition agreement are not resolved. This ultimatum was communicated in a letter signed by Comrade Ademola Adeniji Olapade, chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ondo State, and Comrade Clement Fatuase, chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), following a strategic meeting on July 16, 2026.

The labour leaders accused the hospital management of breaching the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the transition process, claiming that some workers listed on the nominal roll were excluded from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). Additionally, they alleged that inherited workers were forced to sign documents renouncing their union membership to participate in the transition, which they described as a violation of their constitutional right to freedom of association under Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
