Ondo Labor Unions Threaten Strike at FUTATH Over Dispute

The labor unions in Ondo State have warned of an impending indefinite strike at the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH) due to a dispute over a transition agreement. The unions, led by Comrade Princ Ademola Olapade of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Comrade Clement Fatuas of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), accuse the hospital management of breaching a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that governs the transition of workers from the former state specialist hospital.

The unions allege that the management failed to enroll workers into the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS) despite prior agreements. They claim that workers are being forced to renounce their union membership, which violates their constitutional rights.

The unions demand immediate action and have set a seven-day ultimatum for the management to address these issues, warning that failure to comply will leave them no choice but to commence an indefinite strike. Prof.
