Ondo Group Urges Aiyedatiwa to Resolve FUTATH Strike

The Ooye Development Initiatives (ODI), a socio-cultural organization in Akure, Ondo State, has called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to address the ongoing strike by organized labor at the Federal University of Technology, Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH). The strike, initiated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), began on Monday and aims to resolve issues related to staff nominal roll as per the MoU signed between the state and federal governments.

ODI's President, Mr. Muyiwa Jegede, emphasized that the strike could negatively impact healthcare and lead to loss of lives. The MoU outlines the responsibilities of both governments regarding the hospital's development, including the absorption of leftover staff and payment of salaries.

ODI urged the state government to adhere to Articles 5.1.3, 5.2.3, and 5.2.4 of the MoU to prevent further escalation of the strike and protect patients' lives.
