Troops Arrest Drug Peddler, Foil Terrorist Attack in Sokoto

On September 12 and 13, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducted significant operations in Kaduna and Sokoto States. On September 12, during a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, they arrested a suspected drug peddler, Yohana Musa, who was found with a large quantity of illicit drugs.
The suspect and the recovered items are in custody for further investigation. The following day, troops responded to a distress call regarding a terrorist attack in the Unguwan Lalle community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
They engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw and successfully rescuing two kidnapped victims. Following intelligence of the terrorists attempting to regroup, the troops re-engaged them, recovering 157 rounds of PKT ammunition and other items.
The Theatre Commander praised the troops for their professionalism and commitment to counter-terrorism efforts in the North-West.
