Troops Arrest Drug Peddler, Rescue Kidnap Victims in Sokoto

On September 12 and 13, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force conducted operations in Kaduna and Sokoto, resulting in the arrest of a drug peddler and the rescue of two kidnapping victims. On September 12, during a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, troops intercepted Yohana Musa, who was found with a large quantity of illicit drugs.

Musa and the recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation. The following day, troops responded to a distress call regarding a terrorist attack at Unguwan Lalle in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

They engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat while successfully rescuing two kidnapped victims. The troops later re-engaged the terrorists after receiving intelligence about their regrouping, resulting in another fierce gun battle.

During the operations, the troops recovered 157 rounds of PKT ammunition, phone batteries, and other items. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, reported that the Theatre Commander praised the troops for their professionalism.
