Lagos Police Seize Military Uniforms and Illicit Drugs

The Lagos State Police Command announced the interception of 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected illicit drugs during an operation. This event occurred on a Saturday night, with three suspects apprehended.

The police, led by Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani, stated that preliminary investigations revealed the truck carrying the items was heading to the southeast. The police are focused on identifying the actual owner of the uniforms, as there are growing concerns about the use of fake military uniforms by terrorists and criminals in Nigeria, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching.

The police emphasized the importance of this investigation in their ongoing war against insecurity. This operation follows a similar seizure by the Nigeria Customs Service, which also involved military camouflage uniforms and illicit drugs.

The police are committed to tracking the origins of these items to curb the influx of illegal goods into the country.
