NSCDC Arrests Army Deserters for Cable Theft in Lagos

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted a parade on Monday at their headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, where they presented seven male suspects, aged between 27 and 44, arrested for alleged vandalism and theft of national assets, as well as illegal migration-related offenses. The operation, led by Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, was based on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.

Two suspects were arrested on June 27, 2026, in Okun Ajah for vandalizing MTN armored cables. Additional arrests included two suspects on June 26, 2026, for vandalizing transformer cables along Orchid Road, Lekki, and another in Banana Island on April 7, 2026, for stealing RRU invert cables.

The NSCDC also revealed that two of the arrested individuals were Togolese army deserters, and they are in the process of handing them over to the appropriate government agency for further investigation. Keshinro warned against vandalism and emphasized the command's commitment to protecting national assets.
